Moana Cook

My name is Moana Cook.  I have lived in Green Bay all my life and attended Green Bay Primary as a child.  I have 3 children of my own (my 2 boys will start Green Bay High School next year) and my daughter Maia is in Year 3.  I have been on the Board of Trustees at Green Bay School for just over 4 years.

Before starting our family, I lived in Japan, where my husband is from.  I taught English for the local Board of Education in Nagoya City.  I was a foundation student of the first Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching programme at Auckland College of Education in 1999.  One day I may return to teaching.

For the past 5 years, I have worked as the coordinator at the Green Bay Community House.  My role is varied and

busy but is very much community based which is why I enjoy it.  The Community House operates under a governance model similar to how the Board functions, so I have a sound understanding of my governance role on the Board of Trustees.

My beliefs are strongly centred around collaboration between school, whanau and community.  As a member of the Board of Trustees at Green Bay School, I will always advocate for the best opportunities, resources and support we can provide for our kids.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to contribute to my community through our school.
